A week of many firsts.

Tate also had his first imaginary friend this week during breakfast. I was washing dishes at the sink as I observed Tate eating his yogurt. He then looked over to the chair next to him and smiled and said, "bite". He reached out a spoonful to the "imaginary friend" next to him and said, "here you go." After giving his new "friend" a couple more bites he went back to eating his breakfast. I don't know about you, but I found the whole ordeal to be cute and incredibly freaky at the same time. I really hope no one else was sitting at my table that morning, but who knows!
This week has been the first time ever that we have been able to make strides towards weening Tate off of his "nigh nights" (his blanket and Binky). We are only allowing him to have them while he is sleeping...and it is going surprisingly well! Thank goodness. =) I had no idea just how attached little ones get to those things! I find that if I just keep him in his crib until he is "ready to get out", he will put his "nigh nights" down by himself and reach for me...as long as it is on his terms when he wants to get out. So far so GOOD!
Lastly, today was the first time Tate has ever told us he has a poopie diaper. He walked up to Andy holding his diaper and said, "poopie." Andy and I just looked at each other in shock! Does that mean he is ready to potty train now?

Wow, what a week! Little Tate is growing up. I love imaginary friends. I think it's great to see them using their minds, and not the TV for entertainment.
I totally get the "cute but freaky" -ness of imaginary friends. When Carter was born, Haley dreamed up TWO new friends, Nay-Nay and Twah-Twah. She'd ask me to play with her, and if I couldn't she'd say, "OK. I'm going to Nay-Nay and Twah-Twah's house!" It was so cute but so sad and so creepy all at once. :)
Your boys are such sweeties!
LLLLLLOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE these pictures!!! You can just SEE the love these two have for each other!
